This painting is my depiction of 'Maria Clara', the traditional role-model and the standard (traditionally) of Filipino women. She is wearing a filipinana, the traditional clothing of Filipinas. The details at the bottom of the canvass are embroideries based on old Filipino clothings and textiles. Her flower necklace is a symbol of the luscious tropical forest of the Philippines. She is also adorned with emerald, gold, and ruby representing the riches of the Philippines with gems.

This is an acrylic painting which is inspired by a river in our town where sunsets are usually seen with golden colors and are sorrounded with trees.

This painting represents the roughness of life. The ocean is a scary place to be, just like how scary life is but we still need to keep going and sail for the hope of a brighter side.
